Experienced John McCain Takes on the Russians
John McCain is out to prove that no matter how hostile and stupid you are you can still be elected President of the good old USA. The Russian – Georgian conflict is giving McCain a great opportunity to show off his “tough” attitude towards the world. Unfortunately, McCain with all of his vast self proclaimed experience doesn’t seem to know that it is dumb and dangerous to make threats when you don’t have the means to back them up. There is a little something called judgement that in McCain’s case seems to be sorely missing.
The scary thing is that McCain is still close in the polls and many Americans think his “experience” is what we need in the Whitehouse. His reaction to the Russian/Georgia crisis is a good indication of what his experience would bring us. Talking tough to the Russians over this issue is stupid and dangerous.
After all, the United States is the one trying to make former Russian block nations in Eastern Europe and Central Asia American controlled properties. For example, the US has supplied billions of dollars in high tech weapons and military training by US advisers to Georgia. Just think of the reaction in America if Russia armed Cuba with the latest in high tech weapons and even a few military advisers.
Why should we expect the Russian reaction to events next to their borders to be any different from ours in regard to Cuba? Like it or not Georgia is in the Russian sphere of influence and the complicated situation in that part of the world is not something that we should get directly involved with.
Can you imagine what the reaction would be in this country if the Russians set up bases and missiles in Cuba and Central America? That’s what the Bush “experienced” incompetents, lead by Russian “expert” Condi Lightweight Rice, have done in countries on Russia’s borders. No wonder the Russians are pissed.
The Russians have warned the US repeatedly about meddling in Eastern Europe in countries that were once part of the Soviet block. The Russians have somehow never warmed up to the American push to bring these nations into NATO. Fancy that. Now the Russians are taking advantage of their new found oil riches and of the weakness that the US has shown in prolonged wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to show the world that the Russian Empire is once again a major player on the world’s center stage.
With McCain in office we would probably all get nuked as he seems unable to understand the new world order reality and has an exceedingly hostile attitude towards Russia, Iran, and every nation not willing to toe the American Empire’s line.
Here’s some advice from the cold war that with Bush and McCain seems to be once again relevant. Take care and start building that bomb shelter. Don’t forget to stock it up with plenty of Vodka. Perhaps you can make friends with the Russian troops when they show up.
The highly experienced old warrior McCain seems to relish going back to the cold war days. After all, those days fit in with his experience and are something he can better understand.
